Mrs. Katie Horvat- First Grade
My name is Katie Horvat. I teach Reading, Spelling, Phonics and Religion to First Grade. I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself, both personally and professionally.
I have been a teacher at St. John the Baptist School for seventeen years. Prior to that I attended Duquesne University where I received my B.S. degree in Elementary education. I am married and have two children. My husband Mickey is a Pharmacist. My children are Patrick an Maggie. Patrick, a graduate of Duquesne University, is in his last year of Law School. Maggie, a recent graduate of Duquesne University also, has a degree in Marketing and is actively searching for job.
My teaching philosophy is this: I don't simply teach my many subjects. I also will strive to help each child grow in their own individual ways to make their First Grade experience a positive and happy one!
