Religious education is a daily part of the academic curriculum. St. John the Baptist School students also participate in weekly mass and monthly Eucharistic Adoration in grades 1-8.
The Sacrament of Baptism is administered to infants and very young children the first and third Sundays of the month at 12:15 PM or during Mass with prior arrangements. Parents must complete a Baptism class prior to the child receiving the Sacrament which is held every month (usually the second Sunday of the month) in the Rectory at 10:15 AM. To register for the class, please contact Mrs. Tarr at 412-795-6376. After completion, contact Fr. John to schedule and make final arrangements for the child’s Baptism at 412-793-4511.
For those of the age of seven or older, the sacrament of Baptism is received through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. (RCIA) The other two initiation sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist are also received by those who are baptized through RCIA. This is a process by which one is formed in their understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ and the life of the Catholic Church. Although the time frame may vary for each individual, the process usually consists of a period of nine months of formation. One may inquire about RCIA by calling Ronald Donatelli at 412-793-1617 ext. 260, or my email at Rondon216@aol.com
