Mrs. Theresa Szmed is the 7th Grade teacher at St. John the Baptist School.  She teaches science for 6th through 8th grades, 7th grade religion and baking elective.  She also coordinates participation in the annual Science Fair , PJAS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science), and Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair.                                                                                                                                 

Mrs. Szmed has a B.S. in Education from the University of Pittsburgh.  She completed her courses for  her Permanent Certification and has completed her Act 48 Certification.  She also has her Middle School Science Certification. She has Advanced Religion Certification from the Diocese.  Prior to coming to St. John’s in 1997, Mrs. Szmed taught at both St. Raphael’s in Morningside and St. Joseph’s in Verona.

She and her husband John reside in Delmont.  She has two children and her  mother, Marilyn, makes her home with her family.  Mrs. Szmed says, “ I am thankful to have had the opportunity to educate the children at St. John's.  My life has been filled with many rewarding experiences.
